This weekend, I was introduced to a seemingly fearless woman with unlimited imagination via this documentary. The only thing I knew about Diana Vreeland prior to seeing the film, was that she had been a former editor of Vogue. As it turns out, she was a renegade! She celebrated the beauty of imperfections, trusted her own vision & took exponential creative risks in her work. Much of the content of the film centers around various interviews with Diana, where her speech, poise, & sharp wit make her a captivating storyteller. I was particularly drawn to the expressiveness of her hands, which were quite graceful & topped off with meticulous red nails. The documentary also touches on her friendship with Andy Warhol, so I suppose that’s how the feeling of a mod screen print crept into this pattern. Hmmm, I’m very intrigued by this woman, maybe I’ll have to pick up a more extensive biography to learn more about her!
